For those Brits who just couldnt pluck up courage to brave all that terrible French food and awful wine the French insist
on thrusting at us when we go the Lemans 24 hour race , the answer was near at hand ....Silverstone.The LMES series of four
races held the third race at Silverstone,the previous two being Monza ,Nurburgring,and followed by Spa ,four classic circuits
. A six hour,1000KM event ,it proved very popular with the fans .Part of a super weekend of F3, GT and long distance racing
,it was the main event on Saturday.
The cars are mainly ones that run in Lemans 24 hr race but sometimes with differing drivers .Its taken very seriously
by the teams ,no cruising round on a nice sunny day,these guys were out to race,the performance here helps entry qualifying
for next years Lemans and the spectators loved it .several drivers were ex F1 and it was nice to catch up with Pedro Lamy
,who I havn't seen since the Silverstone FIA GT race in 98 driving a Viper .This time he was steering a Ferrari 550LM to
victory.
